Denver kitchen - Copper slate sheet tile and granite countertop

Since the kitchen cabinets had been chosen for their clean lines and the hardware were elongated
and elegant in design, I felt that the kitchen tile that I would select should compliment the overall
effect that the architect was after. My choice for the kitchen tile backsplash was SLATE.

Slate sheet tile follows curve at the front of kitchen island, stone sealer and impregnator enhances the tile which glistens in the light.

This slate sheet tile is
a 1x2 subway tile and
was an ideal choice for
this kitchen island
which is curved at the
face. The sheet tile
installation follows the
curve of the island
front.
The backsplash tile
was supplied through
FLORIDA TILE and
gives the effect of
copper finish especially
after the tile installer
applies impregnator
and enhancer sealant.

choice?
Years ago when you thought of slate tile in a
home you thought of a log cabin in the woods.
In reality slate has been used in kitchens,
bathrooms, showers and floors of many different
designs for years as the technology for better
sealants have advanced making maintenance of
slate kitchen tiles easier.

Color plays an important part for a kitchen design
that appeals to many tastes.
The selection of the kitchen granite countertop
was made first before I selected the backsplash
tile I was going to use.
For years Absolute black and Uba Tuba granite
slab was the popular choice among homeowners,
builders, installers and interior designers.
Today, consumers favor granite tops with
movement. My pick for this counter was Juparanna
tobacco supplied from BEDROSIANS TILE. This
granite offered movement and the right color that
I was looking for.

MODERN TILE DESIGN

Today's kitchen is designed to be the
gathering place for the home. This
kitchen was designed to be an open
and inviting space and the contractors
working on this project brought it to life.

The challenge that I faced as the tile
designer was to bring warmth into the
open space of the kitchen by selecting the
backsplash tile and granite countertop
materials that would convey the warm
earthy tones that the architecture of the
house exhibits and at the same time I did
not want a rustic feel to the kitchen.
