BATHROOM REMODELING
TILE INSTALLATION

I was called to this bathroom remodel
project because the homeowner was
unhappy with the way the
tile
installation
was turning out by the
handyman he hired.    (Pictures are
below)

Unfortunately we had to remove all the
tile, wall board and
shower pan in
order to correct the installation and
waterproofing problems.
BATH REMODEL SHOWER
INSTALLATION

The bathroom remodel pictures with
the arrows are pointing to some of the
many flaws with this bathroom tile job.
Many of the tile edges at the shower
corner, shower curb and drain are
sharp edges and or finished without
using any trim tile.

The shower
floor tile installation was
over the existing shower floor. Look
closely at the shower drain and you will
see what I am talking about. The drain
and shower pan were never replaced
so the tile remodeling contractor built
an unusually high shower curb about 9
inches in height.

There was tile lippage through out the
tile flooring and shower. With so many
problems in this bath remodel it was
best to start all over. New plumbing
and shower drain was installed for the
new
shower pan liner.
The bathroom remodel tile installation
was upgraded to a 12x12 limestone tile
which the tile installers set in a brick
pattern on the shower walls. We
installed the same glass tile but
widened the
tile design and used 1/2
round stone tile trim to finish the
edges.

The bathroom tile flooring is a 18x18
limstone set in a diagonal pattern with
glass tile inserts. The shower floor
was tiled in a travertine mini Versailles
pattern with a honed finish.

All of the tile edges were bullnosed
and the entire job was sealed with a
limestone impregnator.

The bathroom remodeling project was
stopped at about the midway point.

Instead of trying to work with the
remodel job that had already been
done we decided that the best course
was to remove the tile installation all
the way to the framing.

This was important since the tile
installer/remodeling contractor failed
to install a new shower pan and drain.
